Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) [chveulebrivi alkuni in Georgian language]
Uncommon to common year-round resident and breeder in suitable habitats - on rivers with slow stream of water and steep banks.
Regular, but not numerous wintering species at coastal wetlands.
Local population some decreased during last three decades due to river''s management, water pollution and, probably, pesticides.
Several thousand pairs (7000-10000) supposed to be breeding at prtesent within the limits of Georgia.
